MUSICNEWS: Ice-T Doesn’t Like Hip-POP, Record Execs Trafficking COCAINE, and Rihanna’s New Album

Gangster-Rap-Godfather Ice-T is really unhappy with the mainstreaming of Hip Hop. And outside the premier of his new documentary “Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and the Crack Generation,” HE WENT IN.

On Rick Ross:

He thinks he’s [Freeway] Rick Ross, he thinks he’s Larry Hoover, he thinks he’s Big Meech, he thinks he’s MC Hammer, he thinks he’s Tupac. Like, who the f*ck are you really, dude?”

On Lil Wayne and Hip Hop Going Pop:

“Rap was a counterculture that went against pop. But when you have Rihanna singin’ on your records and you’re doin’ records with Katy Perry, that’s no longer rap. It’s pop music, pop using rap delivery. When you hear Lil Wayne sayin’ ‘I got a chopper in the car,’ you go, ‘Yeah, right you do.‘”

Dayum.

Of course, Ice-T’s been beefing with today’s Hip Hop for a while now. We all remember his surreal war of words with Soulja Boy a few years back. And seeing as how Ice is friends with the real Rick Ross, you can understand why he’s not impressed with a former prison guard stealing his name.

So which is it; is Ice-T telling it like it is, or is this hating at its finest?

After just releasing an album last November, and just a month or so after unleashing her latest single on America’s airwaves (top ten hit “Cheers”), Rihanna announced today via. Twitter that her next album is coming out this Fall.

Asked by a Twitter follower if she’s planning on taking a break anytime soon, Rihanna responded irreverently, “Yes, when I’m tired!”

Rihanna’s impromptu announcement comes on the heels of a slew of fairly negative rumors about the 23 year-old Pop songstress. There were the reports that she has a drinking problem, the rumored sex tape with J Cole, and ongoing rumors that she’s ditching Jay-Z’s management team over their objections to her career and lifestyle choices.

A new report unearthed by The Smoking Gun alleges that Interscope Records offices in Los Angeles were being used for pickups and deliveries of COCAINE.

You may recall the epic, ongoing legal saga of former gangster and music industry mogul Jimmy Henchmen (real name James Rosemond), who was arrested earlier this year and indicted on 18 counts stemming from charges of cocaine trafficking. This is also the guy who has been repeatedly accused (by 2pac himself and others) of having had something to do with the 1994 Quad City Recording Studios shooting of Tupac Shakur (you know, the one that didn’t take Pac’s life).

At the time of his arrest, he ran Czar Entertainment and managed big name acts like Game and Sean Kingston.

According to Rolling Stone, “The Drug Enforcement Administration’s investigation into Rosemond claims that the Interscope offices were used as a transit point in transporting large music cases full of money or drugs to studios in New York via the shipping company Rock-It Cargo.”

That is some crazy, crazy shit. And while it’s beyond unlikely that Interscope themselves were involved in cocaine trafficking (they’ve got Gaga, Eminem and the Black Eye Peas on their roster, for god’s sake), could they really have had no idea that this was going on in one of their offices?
