Why take the pledge?
Far too many Black youth continue to be demonized, criminalized and murdered.
Enough is enough!
In response to this intensifying crisis, the Black Youth Project (BYP) has launched “The Pledge.”
With “The Pledge,” we are asking individuals and organizations to close ranks around black youth and make a commitment to take action and fight with black youth as they confront a relentless crisis. We at the BYP believe that each person can make a difference by doing something!
By taking The Pledge we not only articulate our concern about black youth, but symbolically unite our voices with others who will work to confront this crisis.
If we each take action, whether it is starting a group, signing a petition, or mentoring a young person in your neighborhood, then we all become a part of the solution.
Stand With Black Youth!

BYP NEWSFLASH: Perry Owns A Ranch Called “NIGGERHEAD,” Obama Lookalike in KFC Commerical, Drake’s New Video and MORE!
BYP MORNING NEWSFLASH
October 3rd, 2011
This current crop of GOP Presidential contenders truly are the gift that keeps on giving.
On top of everything else that is utterly ridiculous and absurd about Texas Governor Rick Perry, news broke over the weekend that the Perry family’s West Texas hunting camp once went by the name “Niggerhead.”
We can’t make this stuff up, people. Niggerhead.
And while Perry was quick to assert that the name was painted over and replaced with another one as soon as his family began leasing the property in 1983, locals claim its original name was visible on the estate’s welcoming sign as recent at the 1990’s.
And then Herman Cain seized the moment with a spot-on reaction:
Occupy Wall Street protests are still going strong as they head into their 3rd week, spreading to multiple cities nationwide and sparking fierce debate about its aims and merits.
And for your viewing pleasure, a beyond offensive Chinese KFC commercial featuring a President Barack Obama lookalike. Now it seems that the likeness of America’s first Black president is being used here to sell a fried fish filet sandwich; not a bucket of wings. But it’s still bad. Very bad.
Does this racist commercial make you mad…or hungry? Check it out below.
If you have moment, check out Spin.com’s review of a recent Odd Future concert in California. It’s hilarious. And horrifying.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, there’s something about their music that elicits an almost supernaturally horrifying response from their fans. If you hadn’t heard their music, you’d think OFWGKTA were the hardest, heaviest hardcore punk band around.
An excerpt:
Keep in mind; this is before the concert had even started. Check out the full review after the jump.
And finally, Drake’s new video, “Headlines.”
There’s an empty stadium, a feast fit for a king, a really fast elevator, lots of cigars, and seizure-inducing editing. I’m feelin’ it.
Check it out below. Happy Monday!
