Mass Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary; 27 Dead, Including 18 Children
A horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut has so far claimed the lives of 27 people, including 18 children.
The gunman was allegedly the father of a student at the school.
There are unconfirmed reports that the school’s principal and psychologist are among the deceased.
Reports say that the alleged shooter appeared in the building’s main office at about 9:40 a.m., approximately 30 minutes after the school day began.
The initial 911 call said that students were trapped in a classroom with the adult shooter who had two guns, according to WABC.
Students were escorted out of the building single-file. There are approximately 626 students enrolled in kindergarten through 4th grade classes at Sandy Hook Elementary, with another 46 faculty members, Newtown Patch reported.

UPDATE: The allegedly gunman is reportedly named Adam Lanza. It is now being reported that Lanza’s mother has been found dead.
Lanza apparently murdered his mother at her home before carrying out the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
So terribly sad.
