A couple weeks ago, the Philadelphia Eagles shocked us all when they traded their star QB Donovan McNabb to a division rival, the Washington Redskins, for little more than table scraps. Soon thereafter ESPN reported Donovan McNabb started lobbying the Redskins organization to sign Terrell Owens as well.

Shortly after the report was released, Donovan McNabb claimed that it was untrue, that he never told any reporter that he wanted to play with Terrell Owens again. The two superstars have had a less than amicable relationship after briefly playing together in Philadelphia. Terrell Owens, known for his…bravado released a statement claiming that he wouldn’t mind being paired with Donovan McNabb once again.

Despite the naysayers and critics, this might not be a bad situation for any of the involved parties. Yes, Terrell Owens is quite the diva but he spent last season paying penance in NFL limbo also known as Buffalo. Another chance to play with Donovan McNabb might provide the type of redemption Terrell Owens needs.

In McNabb’s case, adding Owens to an anemic roster of receivers gives him a target that can actually catch a ball. Let’s be honest, Jason Campbell caught a raw deal last season with those off-brand receivers. Speaking of Jason Campbell, a couple years under McNabb’s tutelage can’t hurt. And for the Redskins organization…really? Can anything be worse than last season?

Long story short, I don’t think it’s a bad move. Terrell Owens might not be the receiver that he once was but like the rest of us, he knows his clock is ticking and this just might be his chance. I can’t be the only person who thinks this is a good idea, can I?
