REPORT: 1 in 4 Black Students Suspended; Mostly for Nonviolent Offenses

According to a new report, 24 percent of black students were suspended from school in the 2009-10 academic year, as opposed to just 7.1 percent of white students. These suspensions are usually the result of nonviolent infractions, like lateness or dress code violations.
